Are you reddy? Mike’s back with a mouthwatering Shiraz and Grenache!

It’s been about 4 months since the release of the Pinot Gris and Sangiovese Rosé, which a lot of you seemed to love!  The only thing that was missing from Mike’s Adelaide Hills winery was one of his good old reds. Thankfully, the wait is over, and we’re taking an in-depth look at these two gorgeous reds to celebrate the release!

Grenache

Over the recent years, the wine industry has witnessed a growing love for the grenache grape. In fact, McLaren Vale vineyards are becoming so popular for grenache, that the grapes exceeded the average value of shiraz grapes in the region for the first time in 2020! The wine industry is witnessing an evolving consumer preference for grenache, and we can understand why – it’s a very alluring varietal!

Harvested from a single vineyard in McLaren Vale, this red is bursting with a stunning combination of citrus and red fruits. Whilst it’s the younger sibling of the two reds, it has a well-balanced acidity to carry the flavour of the fruits right through, which lingers on the palate. Topping it off is just the perfect amount of tannin to give the grenache a lovely personality.

Shiraz

We know a lot of you Mike Press fans have been waiting for this one! Adelaide Hills wine may be famous for its luscious pinot noir and chardonnays, but this brand-new release from the boss is full of character! In comparison to the grenache, this Shiraz exudes a slightly more intense, deeper, red tint, complemented by stone fruit & cherries on the nose. It just screams the bouquet of classic Mike Press Shiraz! Both the Pressed Grenache and Shiraz offer an interactive back wine label, which includes an aroma wheel to guide you through your tasting experience.

Final thoughts on the release!

Overall, it’s another stunner of a release from Mike Press, and this pair of reds will be well-equipped for year-round consumption. If you’re looking to age a couple of bottles, we recommend aging the grenache for up to 7 years, whilst the Shiraz should get the best out of the cellaring phase over the course of 10 years.

The pair of reds are available for purchase now! You can find both wines here via our online wine store. For a limited time only, we’ll be offering a mixed pack of all 4 wines from Pressed Wines. You can grab a case via our website for just $175
