2023 Shiraz from Pressed Wines that scored 92 in The Vintage Journal South Australian Wine Guide

Mike enters the new year with a spot in the The Vintage Journal: 2025 South Australian Wine Guide

2024 was the inaugural year for the Pressed Wines brand, with Mike releasing a total of 4 wines from his collection. The wines drew collective attention from die-hard Press fans, as well as those who were indulging in Mike’s wines for the first time. However, the standout release from Mike Press was the varietal that he has spent decades working with: Shiraz. It encompassed the attributes and flavours of his signature Shiraz, which gathered the attention of South Australian wine critics.

Recently, the red was featured in The Vintage Journal’s 2025 South Australian Wine Guide, a resource that showcases the best wines that SA has to offer. In their review, the wine scored a 92, which is the first wine from the Pressed Wines portfolio to receive such an accolade.

Wine enthusiasts and critics alike were captivated by the Shiraz’s unique profile, with descriptors such as dark cherry, almost liqueur-like in its intensity, hints of mint, and classic cool-climate pepper notes. The wine’s medium-bodied palate feel and balanced tannins harmonized perfectly with its fruit and savory spice elements, earning it high praise for its drinkability and value.
